The Other 98 Percent

Studies have shown that the majority of teens are decent responsible people who are positively involved in our community. "The Other 98%" program helps our agency teens develop positive role modeling skills, build self esteem and gain life experiences that will help them to be vital and essential citizens in the future.

The Other 98% was formed after a group of our teen Little Brothers and Sisters went to Summerland BC to attend a Youth Conference. While there, they discussed a number of issues that youth in our communities are faced with, including the public's perception of them. Upon their return, a  committee was formed and teens within our organization were recruited to help with this challenge. Since that time, the Other 98% have spoken to various groups about these issues, sat on steering committees for community events, and participated in many projects in and around Langley.

The latest community involvement is with Safe Harbour.  This program has the Other 98% working with the Fraser Region Community Justice Initiatives Association to help the community of Langley be inclusive, strong, healthy and diverse. The youth have been busy introducing and promoting Safe Harbour to the downtown Langley sector. If you have any questions regarding this program, please call us at  604 530 5055. Here is a photo of the group working with Carley Julien:
